Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to SunShield Sunscreen Protection (the "App"), provided by Nicholas Wong ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

Apple license terms

The App is licensed, not sold. Your license is also subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls to the extent of the conflict.

Health and safety

The App provides general, time-based information and is not a medical device or a substitute for professional medical advice. It does not evaluate your skin type, application thickness, missed areas, product condition, medication, clothing, shade, reflected UV, or every environmental factor that can affect sunburn risk.

Always follow the directions and reapplication interval on your sunscreen label. Reapply after swimming, sweating, toweling, or as otherwise directed. Use appropriate clothing, shade, and other sun-safety measures. Seek qualified medical advice for health concerns or sunburn.

Your settings and decisions

You are responsible for selecting settings that match your activity and sunscreen product, starting the timer after applying sunscreen, and deciding when to reapply or leave the sun. SPF does not extend the App's default timer. Notifications, complications, Live Activities, location, WeatherKit data, and device connectivity can be delayed, unavailable, or disabled.

Weather and UV information

Optional UV information is supplied through Apple Weather and may be delayed, estimated, unavailable, or different from conditions at your exact location. It provides context but does not calculate a guaranteed personal burn time or sunscreen effectiveness.

Acceptable use

You may use the App for personal, lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms, the Standard EULA, and applicable law. You may not misuse the App, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use it to violate another person's rights.

Availability and changes

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not promise that the App or external services will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or operating-system version.

No warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, or inability to use, the App or its external services. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot legally be limited.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how the App and support website handle information.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections available in your place of residence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the App or legal requirements change. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply, to the extent permitted by law.
